Myrle Wise, who served as Denver’s fire chief for 18 years, has been featured in a national magazine.
Wise was a resident at Life Care Center of Aurora, Colorado, a skilled nursing and rehabilitation center run by Life Care Centers of America. The company operates and manages more than 200 centers around the country and publishes a handful of residents’ life stories each year in its LEADER magazine. Wise’s story was recently published in the 2016 edition.
Wise and his family left their farm in Oklahoma during the Dust Bowl and settled in Denver, which became a land of many opportunities for him. He became a firefighter in 1943 and quickly rose through the ranks. He was a well-respected fireman and brought much progress to the Denver Fire Department during his time as chief from 1970-1987.
